Is it possible to clear the ESN off of a phone without going through the phone company? Like is there a way to hack it and clear it off there so you can use it?
    Thx for your help

Only way I can really think that might work is if you use a sawz-all. That might get rid of the ESN, if your aim is right and the motherboard gets cut away .

No, you'll have to call the phone company. Perhaps offer to send them gingerbread cookies? Tell them you'd also supply the glass of milk, but afraid it'd go bad in the mail. They may release it then. =)

No, the setting is in your carriers customer/device database, not the device itself.

In order to clear it, you will have to comply with your carriers conditons, like paying your bill.
