How can I change them all to "Mobile" without having to go through each one?
I tried but couldn't find a way...I had to update them all individually. Took forever, but I was able to update all my contacts at the same time.
You can not from the device... not sure if there is an easier way.
I really wish you could edit your contacts through the Desktop Manager, that would make things a lot easier and faster.
In outlook under each contact you can just highlight the phone number and then drag it to mobile or whatever column then sync w/ your bb.
I can't figure out this sync thing. I tried syncing it with OpenOffice, but nothing happens. How do I get my contacts to open after syncing my phone to OpenOffice?
dont know about open office... but if you use the Blackberry Download Manager you can sync using that. Maybe somebody else can chime in about how open office works, but you can also sync to google but not sure that is as easy as outlook.
I know Thunderbird if free and outlook like as far as storage of contacts, but also not sure if the DM syncs w/ it. Maybe someone else can answer that.
Honestly, I really don't understand the syncing thing and why doesn't it allow me to check 2-way syncing?
Unfortunately i had to change all my contact's mobile number to the correct category. Its a *****, but it can be really frustrating when you know its not a work number but a mobile !!!
I found a program that lets you edit your phonebook using your computer and that's how I did it, still took a while but definitely a lot faster than doing it on your phone. Unfortunately I can't remember what the program was called but I originally found it just by googling it.
synch your contacts to outlook express (one way) then edit them. It's a lot easier. When finished synch it back from OE to your device (one way)
Install Google Sync for BlackBerry, and update them all on Google Contacts. Your changes will be synced back to your phone.
If you're using MS Outlook you can export the contacts to a csv file and re-name the column to "mobile" in Excel. Re-save the file as a csv and import it back into Outlook. You can convert all of them this way in under ten minutes.
mine did this too when I transferred all my contacts over and I had to change ALL of them 1-by-1 it really sucked....
but it did give me a reason to play with my phone some more lol
I use this app. It works very well although annoys me that it
takes a 3rd party app to do what the BB OS should do as a
matter of course.
