Is there a single defining feature that seperates the Tour from from the 8900?
I read through the features on Blackberry's website but they looked pretty even matched; I just figured that there must be some hands down difference.
I guess I am just curious about what the benifits to the Tour are over my 8900...
If you are going to stick with T-mobile then you want the 8900, not the tour because the 8900 has UMA and enhanced EDGE. The 3G of the tour is CDMA and that will not work with the T-mobile network.
Do you feel that it is better phone than the 8900?
Does the 3G and the processor really make that much of a difference?
I (Myself) prefer the 9630's keyboard. As far as Speeds, well the 8900 does pretty well. I think the ONLY time you'll see a huge difference is streaming audio and or video. (Things that take high data consumption at a fast rate)
But for the 8900 not having 3G i'd say it def. holds it's own!
But the 9630 wouldn't have 3G either if unlocked on T-Mobile
But going toe to toe, do you think that the Tour has more offer than the 8900? Or is this one of situations where they are so similar that they what one lacks the other one makes up for with different features?
It really depends on the carrier you are going to be with in this case. Your profile says, T-mobile. If you are staying with T-mobile the hands-down choice is the 8900. Nothing else will come close to it on the T-mobile network.

Better keyboard but no wifi would be the highlights. The Tour is also a 3G Blackberry where as the 8900 technically is not, but if you don't care for VZW (as I don't), that could be the main deciding factor.
For me, WiFi and UMA beat out any slight advantages the Tour has over the 8900. 3G would be nice, but I can wait for the Driftwood (assuming it has reasonable battery life).

Not only that, but I believe that the EV-DO (3G) on Verizon doesn't allow
simultaneous data anyway as would UMA and/or Wi-Fi.
This isn't even a competition. Curve 8900 hands down.
Well i just picked up the Tour and the 8900. i use the 8900 for work and the Tour for personal use. I decided on the 8900 for its size and UMA capability. The 8900 is arguably the best BB out there at this time. When the Driftwood ever gets to Tmobile i will then buy that and call it a day, with UMA and 3G im in.
The Tour is an 8900 thats on CDMA/no wifi/UMA and that is a little nicer for larger handed people. The 8900 is already a World Phone, just has no 3G. My dream BB is these two phones put together: DRIFTWOOD!
I think 522 is a typo and actually 512, but I could be wrong. They are pretty much the same phone with the exceptions of 3G, wifi, etc. Other than that only physical changes.
Which one has less reported issues? Some of the threads in the forums make me reluctant to get a Tour. I'm wondering if the 8900 would be the "safer" route to go.
Yes, I agree with iJeenyus. Give it some time for RIM to come out with better OS for the Tour.
Sooo.....same processor speed eh? Oh well....doesn't really need 3G, so I guess I'll just enjoy my 8900 until Driftwood gets launched. How I'd love to get a trackpad, touchscreen, and qwerty keyboard all in one bb......
the lack of wifi on the tour hampers it seriously if you browse. Otherwise they are the same in every aspect. The 3g and EDGE are about the same speed because 3G on a BB is slower than other 3G phones for downloading for some unknown reason. But if you love Vzn the Tour is your phone because Vzn doen't believe in wifi.
