Does the Bold have more speakers or more ports? I was never really clear on that.
In any case I can tell you for sure the Bold is louder and the sound really is nice. With that said, I don't think the sound on the 8900 is bad. I don't listen to music or anything without headphones so for me this was a non-issue. Everyone is different. I also do not have any problems hearing the phone ring on my 8900.
The Bold does have more openings on it then the 8900... Kevin commented on that during one of the podcasts. The 8900 will definitely be a weaker sound when you compare it to the Bold.
IIRC, the Bold has two speakers, so that probably accounts for the loud ringtones.
Even though I had many ringers set to high on my 8320, when I moved to the 8900 yesterday many were set to medium, so I had to change each one. Verify that your settings are proper.
I have some instrumental ringtones with a lot of piano that I couldn't use on the .114 simply because they weren't loud enough. Now with the .133, it is improved and I can hear them loud and clear!
Yes, I can tell you that my ring tone (an MP3 of the iPhone ring tone heard in the very early TV commercials) is now CRANKING on .133. I actually had to drop it to "Low" just so it wouldn't blow my ears out at my desk.
