8900 is far more capable.
The other is cheaper though, by quite a bit. Just go to Smartphones, Cell Phones & Smart Phones at BlackBerry.com and do a side by side comparison of them to see.

The best one is the 8900, hands down! The 8520 is really just a dumbed down smart phone! Why RIM went one step back is beside me! Guess they didn't want to put the trackpad on the best overall BB and get bad responses cause of the trackpad. But anyways, the 8900 is the best between the two but, there will be an even better one coming out late this year (supposedly), the 9700. Just another option!

8900, for sure. The 8520 seems like an entry-level BB for someone who's not really going to utilize a BB to it's max potential. I have an 8900 and I'm proud to say it's treated me like Christmas everyday. A trackpad on a BB? Seriously?
yes
8900 is better than 8520
Definately the 8900

Any ideas on the specs for the 9700?
Looked at the storm but I'm wanting to avoid a touch phone so wouldn't be interested if the 9700 was one of them, should it be one that is!
9700 cuz its coming to both att and tmo and put it to you this way it will be taking the bolds place as rims flagship device. And from what I've seen it is very simular in size to the 8900, 8520, tour and trumps them all in specs not by much but enough.
8900 is best.
8900 is better than 8520
I think the only reason to choose the 8520 over the 8900 is cost. The 8900 is far superior which is not to say the 8520 is a bad device. It's $200 cheaper if you're paying outright. In this case, let your wallet do the talking.
Rumor has it that the 9700 will have a trackpad. It also will be 3G and have WiFi (UMA) capability along with GPS. After that I can't recall but it the first BB that seems to have everything.
8900 all the way buddy. the only cool thing about the 8520 is the trackpad. thats all.
