it handles all "normal" text messages as MMS
You cannot send an SMS. All out going are MMS. The receipient would receive as an SMS. All incoming are MMS no matter how they were sent to you.
Wow really. I didnt think to look to see if it offered basic sms. All phones can do sms. Even basic phones. That sucks.
Oh it does SMS it's the Nextel US network that doesnt.
@ eddie it is a pointless argument. you cannot send SMS with the 8350i here in the US period.
It makes no difference weather the 8350i or the network is keeping it from doing it. It cannot be done at this time.
Why does it matter that it does not do SMS?
I send a text it goes to the other person, if i send with a attachment it arrives as a MMS if i dont it arrives as a SMS to them.
If they send a SMS to me it arrives as a MMS, if they send a MMS it arrives as a MMS.
Really people this is not a issue!!
Quit worrying that it does not do SMS you do not need it!
It's like worrying that your car has a rear mounted engine instead of a front mounted one. It does all the same things just slightly different.
Well when i used to have Sprint there MMS messages came and sent as links you had to open in a browser. Does the MMS on the 8350i do this? I hope not cause i really hated to have to open a link just to be able to view a pic.
On the Sprint/Nextel side of the house it doesn't require following a link to open a pic.
@ibbeach0 wasnt arguing just stating that the phone does have SMS capabilities just that our US network doesnt handle it as there are folks from other carriers on here that do have SMS and wonder why we say the phone doesnt.
For Boostberry users this does pose as an annoying problem. If you are not on the 50 dollar a month unlimited, it will charge you to send MMS messages on a per message basis. I sometimes switch back and forth between the Unlimited and the Dollar A Day with web plan. I love the phone but do wish I could get the correct SMS service center numbers to send SMS with boost.
