I am about to get my first BB. T-Mob offers a Curve 8320. The rep said it has built in GPS.

This link from another source says the 8320 now comes with built in GPS

    techiegeekuk.blogspot.com/2008/04/blackberry-8320-with-gps-and-google.html

    Can anyone here confirm this?
I went on Blackberry.com and they do not show the 8320 as having built in GPS.

    Thanks!

I think the rep is totally wrong, unless there is a new revision of the 8320 that I have never heard of before...

Welcome to CrackBerry by the way!!

Yup. The above two posters are absolutely correct.... Built in Wifi? Yes. GPS? Unfortunately, no.

He also said "Curve", so he might be on one like mine: a 8830 (and the GPS in it works just dandy)

The 8830 is not a Curve. The Curves are the 83xx series.

Go to here BlackBerry - BlackBerry Curve to check all the Curve specs and here BlackBerry - BlackBerry Curve 8320 smartphone for the 8320 specifications.

    8320 WiFi = Yes
    8320 GPS = No

Edit: Sorry someone else posted that link. Ooops.

    Thanks for all the feedback.

That's what I thought too. T-Mobile also offers the BB 8800, this one does have built in GPS.
How does it compare to the 8320.

I don't think I will like the black keys. Seems it would be hard to see the letters.

The keys seem closer togeather then on the 8320 too.

What do 8320 users do for GPS? Is using an external device a pain? Hard to set up?

    Thanks!

    1. the 8800 and 8820 do not have cameras. take that as you will. the 8820 does have wifi, though.

    2. the keys on the 88xx series are closer together. go to the store and try them out. i didnt like the keyboard on the 8820, and since the Bold has the same keyboard design, i know i wont like it either. but that's MY preference. go to the store and find yours.

    3. they use an external GPS puck. it's only painful if you always forget stuff.

The Freedom Keychain 2000 external GPS comes with a permanently attached spring-loaded clip for attaching it to a keyring. It's no bigger than those electronic key fobs that many cars come with...of course, if you've got one of those, plus a few keys, adding the GPS is a lot to have in a pocket. I clip mine to a belt-loop. It's small and matte black and rarely noticed.

that's genious... mine's attached to the key ring of death, I wouldn't mind losing that from my pocket. y didn't I think of that?
