I am using the 8300 series and it has started to power off on it's own. The battery is fully charged or at least it is saying it is. Does anyone have any ideas on what is wrong?

How old is the unit and battery? I've seen old batteries that may 'read' full, yet not have enough power to sustain function.

Try plugging it into a charger and do the things that cause it to shut down. If it is a bad battery, this would be radio intensive things like calls, sending data (MMS, browser, etc). If it is ok while on the charger, it is probably the battery.

If shutdowns still occur on the charger, then it is either software or hardware. To rule out software, reload the OS after a complete wipe with a utility like JL Commander. Then restore only essential data like address book, messages, ans email using Advanced Restore.
