Does anyone know, or heard anything of a 3G version of the 8900 coming out in the near future?
Last I heard was possibly later this year, or early next.
Later this year would be perfect, looking to upgrade from my pearl. Also don't want to jump to the 8900, and then a 3G version comes out like a month later, that would suck. I thought I heard grumblings of a 3G coming, but wasn't sure if I heard right, or when it would be released... thx for the info.
If anyone else knows more, please pass the info on. Did a search, but didn't turn up much.
no ......................
I think it will be a while before a 3G 8900 comes out on tmobile.

I had asked a customer support rep about a usb modem for my laptop, and was told that a 3g version is coming march 25 or 26, and she noticed I have the new 8900, she also said they were told about a possible 3g blackberry but she didn't know which model.
Don't know if there is any truth to that, but that is what I was told.
9220 was the most recent one.
Are you talking about the niagra? It probably depends on who your carrier is because all 3g isn't the same from what I understand. Most of us 8900 fans get along fine without 3g.

Agree, I VERY nearly didn't take on the 8900 (even though my orange uk update basically equated to a free 8900, free 8gb card, 300 mins, 500 texts and the BIS service free - all for 15 a month!) Just because it had no 3G, and coming from iphone 3g I was used to fast data, however the GPRS and EDGE on this phone is the best I have ever seen, I never struggle to do what I want online.
No, the Niagra is a cdma unit, I was wondering when a GSM 3G 8900 (Javelin) would be coming out. Just because I thought I heard something of it, but I could have been mistaken.
Did she also say that unicorns were just discovered in Canada and a completely isolated tribe was found in South America that had never seen civilized life before?
Long story short, reps lie...either to get a sale or to make themselves seem more informed than the customer. I was personally told that a 3G modem didn't have a release date yet, and I doubt T-Mobile will get another Blackberry for at least another year.
BlackBerry Gemini 9300 information, specs : Boy Genius Report
I guess this is the one 9300, just just hope they don't tamper with the size and style too much, cause I really like the look and size of the 8900.
3G is overrated right now just switched from G1 to 8900 loved the speed of 3G on G1 but battery life sucks 3g is great for internet but didnt see any benefits elsewhere so now i use my 8900 for biz and G1 for play
enchanced edge works fine for me. i live in the city and wifi is everywhere. 3g just kills battery for sure. 9300 sounds cool, imma just have to black it out though
There are always rumours... here's a supposed time-frame of new releases, the release dates and the carriers.
Rumor: Leaked 2009 Blackberry Roadmap Hints at Touchscreen Bold, Storm Slider
That 9220 'magnum' looks like it'd be the closest thing you're looking for... but what I don't get from this chart is why there is the Niagara and the "8930 'Jupiter'" which is just a CDMA version of the 8900... its the same phone minus a few aesthetics.
Take this as you will, it is just a rumour sheet.
That roadmap is total speculation and not official at all. Take that thing with a huge grain of salt.
After reading some of the comments posted on the boy genius report, and looking close to the top of the pictured phone, people commented on the lettering of the word BlackBerry. If you look closely to the b's, the a and the e, they all have black in them, making this picture look like a photoshoped 8900. I hope that this is a real phone though. After the non release of the 9520 I am already disappointed enough this year. :(

I never said it was official, I said it was a rumour sheet. Twice. And I also said "take it as you will."
But keep in mind they were right about the CDMA Pearl flip and a Rogers rep on the forum has confirmed the touchscreen Bold.
So what am I saying? Don't completely rule out that there won't be a 3G 9220 but also don't get your hopes up too high.
I am sure it is just a mock up.... anyhow!!
yea lets just hope it is..
I'm interested in the niagra I think that's gonna be my next upgrade
