1). Enable HotSpot on BlackBerry, set up a name for the HotSpot

2). Open iPad 3 and connect to newly created WiFi HotSpot that will show up under your
WiFi connection options as the name you set.

    3). Profit.

when turn my bb mobile hotspot, there are these 2 fields, to be filled in, username and password. which username should i use there. what, i did; i just entered my name and a password and the mobile hotspot was on.
on the ipad, i turned wifi on, and my hotspot was detected but written the name of my carrier and other stuff. i chose that one, it asked for a password and i entered the one i entered on my blackberry BUT i cant click 'join', because it is disabled.

I had the same thing. Your carrier must provide you those information.

I found this on another site:

I work as a Technician at an AT&T Device Support Center and was able to resolve the issue with a little trickery. The iPad must be set to search for the Blackberry Mobile Hotspot and selected as if it is trying to connect to the Blackberry. Once the iPad is trying to connect shutdown mobile hotspot on the Blackberry and then restart it. When the iPad is trying to connect it automatically joins as it should but it only works by trying to connect to the mobile hotspot with the iPad and shutting down the mobile hotspot feature on the Blackberry device and then turn it right back on. I tried this with an iPad 3 running iOS 6.0.1 Wifi model as well as a Cellular/Data model and this trick worked with both. I also tested with an original iPad running iOS 5.1.1 and the iPad connected automatically without an error message or issues. The Blackberry used was Torch 9810 running Blackberry OS 7.1. I hope this helps with several people.

It definitely works, I'm using it.
