Old OS?
Just wondering, if you were to install an OS for the older Blackberry Bolds, like OS 5 and OS 6, would this work properly on the curve 9360? Just curious cause' I'm quite retro when it comes to BB - I like old versions and stuff - new things are too 'smooth' - what happened to sharp, pixely fonts? :D

You can't install older (non OS7) OSes, because they don't exist for the 9360. The best you could do, and this is very unlikely, is an assembled, hybrid OS.

Ah, okay. It's just cause' I know it's technically possible to install OS6 on a Curve 8520/Bold 9000, but it's super slow - I just wondered if it could be done in reverse.
-
You can only jump primary OS numbers when the phone originally ships with an older OS, but is built to be forward capable (in your example, the 8520 and the 9000 both shipped with OS4, but are OS5 capable.) The 9360 shipped with OS7, so there's no backward compatibility.
RIM doesn't make a whole lot of forward compatible devices either.

Ah, thanks! I guess I'll just have to wait for theme builder so that people can make precision zen themes with no 'bugs' and maybe some os6 icons :P
-
Or you could just learn how to build themes and tailor make a retro OS yourself.....then give it out to all the CB family

Haha, give me 50 years perhaps :rotfl:

Old OS?
there is no theme builder 7 coming for us. RIM tested it and sed its no good and have to see what class designers can do with 6
