Thanks for posting this brook196. One of my themes were also stolen and posted on his site. The guy (mobi900) even has the nerve to post them on here. While i do not know who all has gave him permission to post their themes, there are themes from some well known theme makers that post here on CB. (I am not going to post his site here, but if your a theme maker PM me and i'll tell you it so you can make sure he did not steal yours as well.
I am new to themes, so I did not recognize everyone's themes on this guys website. I did recognize a few, including emarsha's. It just made me furious that someone would do this and ruin it for everyone. The themes that we all love so much take so much time to produce and it just makes me sick that someone would steal that hard work from another.
That's definitely B.S., but we all knew it would be a matter of time before someone ruined it for everyone else. Maybe we're headed towards themes with the developers "tags" in them someplace.
I have put "by Z2A" in all my themes names since day one. I am sure it is probably annoying to some, but it at leasts gives me credit from when someone does repost my themes. It happens more often them we know, this guy was just #### to post them on CB.
im gonna have to start tagging my themes, never thought to do this because i'd never had the problem.
brook196, thanks for the thread. I've taken down that post realizing that @#$%%^& is getting more hits that way.
i refuse to lock down my blog!!! =)
emarsha - no problem!
I appreciate all the hard work that all theme developers do and I just wanted to get the word out on this scumbag who was ripping off your work so that everyone would know.
Nothing like a small grassroots effort to get things moving along :)
Get used to it, themes that are free (and sometimes premium) get posted on other sites without permission...heck he has one of mine on there as well
Sucks that it happens but people are crooks
He looked like a lightweight to me. I threatened legal action. that never hurts esp when you aren't making money. He'll fade into obscurity imo. I'd think taking down his link was smart Marsha.
I think it is sad that themes are having to be tagged. I personally am not a fan of tags in themes on anything I use but I can live with it as long as the tag is some more hideden spot that is out of the way. Basicly you have to be looking for it to find it.
I worry that tags will become like a huge thing in the middle of the wallpaper. Small tag in the corner I could live with but even then iif I find something tagless I tend to use one of those

wow didn't even change the theme names what a dic*hole
I would love to have access to your blog. I hope this is possible... I really love your themes
Just a reminder for everyone. CrackBerry.com Terms & Conditions sets out our procedure for copyright infringement. If theme developers have a problem with their own work being reposted here by others, feel free to use that procedure.
theme makers, if you google your theme title. you will find your themes posted at many, many different sites. i googled my "winberry 7" theme and found it posted on so many different sites, that i didnt even see my own site in the search. and i go to these sites and i see that they obviously just get themes from wherever to post theme, and gain traffic to their site to make money on advertisements. of course i cant really complain right? i mean my theme is a rip off a microsoft product. hence why it is free. but if i produce an original piece, and find it on these sites, i will be in an uproar about it.

Free Blackberry Themes
- are just a few..
most of the sites, however, do include the authors name and a link. some dont. but its still pretty crappy that they do it without permission for their own personal gain.
i have original and some skewed up version of "copies." the guy actually took the .cod and .jad files of an original idea (etabs) and hosted them on his site with no link to my blog.
it's okay, i've reopened up the blog and i'm over it. this IS the internet and people will steal it one way or the other. ;)
Isn't this a bit similar to people taking images from deviantart and not giving credit for their creativity? They are all "free" creations....
*scratches chin*
I made a thread in the theme section, but this one is more intelligent. Thanks for getting the name out there, and I agree, in hindsigth I shouldn't have posted his site name.
Also, thememakers, if you host your own themes, one good thing to do is edit your .htaccess file so that the file indices can't be browsed. That is likely how he lifts the files from your servers.
when i repost images on my blog, i try not to alter the name so that you can still see the original artists name. :o
And theres plenty without...treat people how you want to be treated.
Thanks for making this I love the theme making process its fun to pick out the icons that will go good with the walls and just the perfect dialogboxes and font its such a fun little procedure for me as a bystander so I could just imagine and have seen several theme copies and it even makes me mad so I feel you no matter if your a premie clubbie or freebie maker just put your personality into it and just be flattered if or when its copied.....thanks for all the fun times my ashabees and I love you!

Not sure if everyone know this but there is a way to automatically tag your themes already built into Plazmic.
Go to 'Edit' and then 'Preferences', Select the 'Metadata' Tab and enter your info there.
When someone downloads you there OTA or using DM the info shows on their screens (Screenshot of one of my themes below). Bastian's Lair is the name of my Website

This can't be altered unless you have the original .thm file so it doesn't matter where your theme is posted, you always get credit,
