I made and interesting discovery and I'm curious to know if it works for other folks. I have a brand new 8900. I used the BB Messenger function "Send My Location" to one of my BB Messenger contacts, you may have to choose "Full Menu" to see this option, and then I clicked on the link in the sent message and BB Maps opened right up and it actually worked. How cool is that?

That's nice of AT&T to lock the GPS/BB Maps on YOUR 450$ phone.

Minor issue on a great phone. I knew it when I bought it so I have no claim to complain. This is a well known "feature" for AT&T phones. The sell a competing product, Televav and since they are in fact in the business of making money, why should we hold it aginst them. The phone cost me 149, subsidized, so such is life.

GPS isn't locked, its just BB Maps. Which stinks but as long as I can get GPS navigation for free I'm happy.

There was a workaround on older model BBs but I don't think it works on these.
