I have only had my Pearl 8120 for a couple of months now but really want a Curve 8900. Is this is a good move? Should I wait? Or am I just mad for wanting to change so quickly?

I moved from an 8120 to an 8900 about a month ago after having my Pearl for 6 months and I haven't looked back. The full qwerty takes a bit of getting used to, but the device itself is just fantastic.

Highly recommended! Obviously it's a matter for you in terms of whether you can afford it etc.

What are the major differences between the 2 then, apart from the obvious?

I agree if you can afford it the 8900 is way ahead of the 8120.

wow.. i guess it was a good thing i bought my 8320 back in October 08 at full price and left my upgrade... xD

anyway, your best chance on getting an 8900 for cheap is to buy it with new activation of service or buy it with at partial upgrade price which is better than buying the 8900 at full price and since you said that you have had your pearl for 6months, the extension would be 6months more to your current contract with a 2yr contract

Honestly you should just go with both. I loved my pearl. It was great and so is my jav. Wish I still had them both

I went from my 8120 to the 8900 and have not looked back. I thought the 8120 was awesome but it's nothing compared to the 8900. Do it!

Had the 8120 for a year and couldn't wait for the annual upgrade discount! Had massive UMA voice issues with the 8120. Took me about two days to get used to the full qwerty keyboard, and in the meantime was amazed at how much better a device the 8900 is! Stock OS on the 8900 was better than upgraded 8120, and then I upgraded the 8900 to .168 and then .206. Holy cow, the 8120 isn't even in the same league. After a week of using the 8900 the 8120 and the old curve screens look archaic! Best move I have made in a long time!!

If you mainly phone and txt/IM/email the Pearl is fine, as long as you don't get attachments in email a lot. Personally I think typing is a little better on it than the 8900 (not a dealbreaker, just faster for me). The screen on the 8900 is the deal. That and the gobs of memory if you run apps and stuff. But as just a phone/message machine the pearl is great. Small too.

I had the 8100 pearl for 2yrs and absolutely loved it but 8900 is seriously on another level. The pearl was more of emailing, txting, calling phone but the 8900 just enhances everything. I HIGHLY recommend getting the 8900

Go sell your 8120 on Ebay for a good price, then get an 8900, you won't regret, 8900 is the superman version of the beloved Curves.

Liar!! I go back to my Pearl every three to four days. It's something about remembering where my addiction started. I have no problems going back to it.

Just received warranty replacement 8900 yesterday. Connectivity seems to be better however, very slow processing. I have not had a chance to upgrade to .206will attempt to today if time allows.

The 8900 is a great phone, I just believe I have had a string of bad luck. A sh*tty BlackBerry is still better than an awesome Windows Mobile Device.
