Does anybody know if I can take oz messenger off of my 8100 onto the desktop manager and then put it on my 8900? Can I get OZ messenger any other way?I dont have the data plan on the 8900 and aim, yahoo mesenger and all of the other messengers are isntalled but it says "service not enabled...". On my Pearl 8100 the aim and yahoo messengers worked just fine without the data plan (I'm assuming because it was OZ messenger). The OZ messengers I found on the web could not be read by the desktop manager so I could not load them into the 8900... I'll stop rambling. I'm terrible with phones and am looking for any options or advice (other than getting the data plan).

    Welcome to Crackberry!

You can take a backup of your 8100, including 3rd party applications using the Upgrade instructions in my signature. You can then restore the backups to your 8900. This application will not run on your 8900 if it is not compatible. If you are looking for a chat application to run over WiFi, I suggest BeeJive.

Thanks for the speedy reply. The only problem with that is the desktop manager for some reason no longer picks up the device(8100). I just tried all of the possible fixes on the BB website. I also tried updating the USB driver on my pc because the pc does not recognize the device either. Looks like I cant install OZ this way because I can't back up the Pearl ( the 8900 is recognized without an issue). Any other suggestions?

In that case you need to download OZ again. I don't know anything about it. Just connect to your WiFi on your Blackberry and then access the OTA download for the application and then install it. It may or may not be compatible with the 8900. Just depends on the app.

    1. Extract the .zip
    2. Copy folder to the phone
    3. Open "Media"
    4. Press Menu>Explore, find the folder.
    5. Run the "OZ Instant Messaging.jad" file.
    6. Click "Download" and it'll install.

I tried this on my 8900 and it did not work. It downloads but then gets stuck on the login request and then says "Communication error. Please check your settings". Also the menu is small like it is meant for a pearl or some smaller phone.

Also it says at&t at the top of the IM menu???

    Anything for tmobile?

I'm not sure how to change that, try changing your options. I know you have to have Data settings on. The screen is small until you log in. Then back to normal.

Manage Connections>Mobile Network Options>Data Services: On

I found the OTA link a while back and downloaded it to my computer. I don't remember which link though.

Why do you want OZ Messenger? The native RIM apps are better, and they use data, unlike OZ

    Does this us SMS?

im pretty sure that OZ uses SMS but what was the reason for turning data services on? is this going to make it turn into a data charge?

also, how do you like if for those who use it on the 8900?
