I'm still running 114 - I need something official from tmo before I make the jump.

like what? tmobile wont send any official word. The makers of Blackberry (Research In Motion) does all that..

I am suprised to say that using .168 has tremendously increased my battery life. I haven't charged in almost 3 days now and I still have 3 bars.

All you have to do is check the software updates at the my tmo website. That is where I got all my updates for my 8320 - that way no issues with the warranty.

Updating the OS doesn't void your warranty regardless. If you are paranoid, you can always just revert back to the OS your phone came with before turning it in back in.

Should've used the 'support' instead of warranty - my fault. If you upgrade to an os not 'approved' by tmo then you cannot get any support if you have issues. I will also say that when I was having major issues with my 8900s (went through 5) there were 2 questions all the support people at tmo always asked: what color is the water damage sticker and what os are you running?

Crackberry has better support anyway. Besides, when you call in just tell them you are running .114. They won't know the difference.

199 is excellent. I upgraded from 168 and not only does it seem a little sharper, but the one problem I had with 168 (losing the tracball click sound effect after listening to an audio book and pausing to answer calls) has been fixed.

yeah, U dont need tmobile.. Crackberry is better support. Plus, just tell them you're running old .114 or even .94. They wont know the diff.

I downgraded from 199 to 174, cause I never had luck locking satellites on the GPS.
On the other hand, on 174 I'v got satellites right away. Recently, I got 9 - 10 satellites, which is verry good.

I don't know about the battery life, I hope it's better than 168.
