I just updated to the new OS system with the new Tmobile update that just came out. But now my phone is not making any of its regular sounds! I go to the sound profiles, and try to check the ringtones, but they wont even play while browsing through my selection list. Anyone else been having this issue?? Im worried because I use my phone as my alarm as well. Thanks for any help!!

nevermind. Did a battery pull and now they are working. Seems they lowered the sound settings, so now tones that were on a "3" volume sound the same as the "9" volume. interesting.

I have the same issue - I did the battery pull to no avail. I actually went into media to play the ringtones and I get an error.

This is my alarm also - how to fix?

Same here. I did the 5.0 update from tmobile and now all my sounds are not working. I get an error if I try and play them in the media player. My videos do the same thing. The only sounds that work are the 3 aim notifier sounds and the few ringtones that are named tune_xxxxxx. everything else does not work. Please help, I dont want to go back to 4.0.

Well i guess if you all read the reviews of the .822, you'll see how much problems it has.

So why to go for the latest just for the sake of going for the latest.

In my opinion, anyone of you having a slight problem with this version should downgrade to the 5.0.0.681 because it has proved to be the latest STABLE version so far.

    Cheers

Interesting board. I am new to this board and the world of BB. I have a Curve 8900. Now, where do I get version .681? I guessing that it is better to download this via wi-fi and does it download directly to the BB? I have an older version on there now.. I am with AT&T..

    Thanks for your help..

My phone automatically upgraded to .822 through the dektop - I dd not actively go looking for it. I figured that if ATT suggested it, it would be without glitches.

Has anone found the fix yet? How would I go about downgrading to .681? The BB desktop software upgraded itself and I don't see the option to downgrde.

Same problem here.. I have tried reloading the 0S 5 but that didn't work. The sounds work for a couple minutes then go off completely. Looks like blackberry has failed again. Maybe its time to switch to an Iphone...

I figure blackberry will have to put a fix out for this. Also, it is looking like its only happening on the Curve 8900.

I went to the ATT store and he says it's a compatibility issue. Since I can't figure it out, I'm downgrading.

I've always been eager to upgrade my firmwares on just about anything that has a firmware!!! I've followed the upgradge threads for the 8900 and I can't say they've encoraged me to upgrade. I think I'm going to follow that famous saying...."If it aint broke, don't fix it". I find it hard to believe this, but I'm on 4.6.1250, a tad slow, but super stable.
Anyone going to pass on this o/s build and go for a device running 6.0? Most user's here should be close or eligable for a HUP. (Not to discount the 8900, I love it, but the reality is that the 8900 doesn't have much of an upgrade path left.

Where can I locate 5.0.0.681 to download? I have 4.2.0.108 now. Like I said I just got this from a guy I work with and am still learning...Next to 4.2.0.108 it says "Platform" so I am guessing that is the software version..
    Thanks,

    Jim

I am having the same problem. The sounds work for a while then stops. Battery pull fixes it but the again stops working after a whle. I got .822 from the tmobile update last week. It was not messy while upgrading. But the issues afterwards are killing the fun of long pending os upgrade on curve. Also having issue with lock button working as standby and the owner info not showing up.

Choose 8900 from that link from the official website and v681 is the second one on that page.

    Cheers.

    - This link directs you to "Multi-Language" versions:

Just choose "8900" and there will be only 2 versions, choose the 1st one!

If you need any info about the installation methods, you can follow the stickys in the forum or just post your questions here and i'll be more than happy to help you out

    Kareem,

The link above "East Asia" version is missing, now will the link below " Multi-Language" take you to the same place? In looking there it shows a software upgrade called "5.0", but does not say "681" is that it?

Thanks for the posting, I hve been looking for 681 since the version after it seems to have problems..

This is why I haven't bothered upgrading from 5.0.0.681. .681 works great...

    Kareem,
Well that worked fine....No problems. The guy I work for bought an iPhone and gave me his 8900 so this is all new to me. He was (2) software rev.'s behind.
Is there a posting that covers what changes/additions are in .681?

    Thanks again for the help,

    Jim

Jim, unfortunately there's never been any changelog for new builds.

I've stuck with .681 ever since it was officially released. I never felt the need to upgrade. It's a very stable version for me.
