I put in a 4gb microSD into my new curve 8900... all works well then out of the blue i take a picture and it says...that image cannot be saved...i go to the memory menu and it says that the card has to be formatted...

so i try to reformat and all i get is a "formatting card: please wait" ... so i wait...and wait...and wait...and wait... and nothing...any ideas on what is going on?

Did you try a battery pull? It really does fix just about anything!

If that doesn't work then you might want to look into how you got the SD card and who made it. Depending on the brand and where it was manufactured, there could be a problem. There have been multiple scams coming out of China of electronic storage that is branded for large capacity and even has some kind of code on it to mask it when it's first read and being the correct size, until it's reformatted of course. This happened to my brother, he bought a mp3 player advertised as 10GB, but when he reached 3 GB of music on there, he just kept getting errors, trying to figure it out i reformatted it for him and behold, it was only 3GB in reality. I hope this isn't what happened to you, but I did want to throw it out there just in case. You might try formatting the card with a PC just to be sure, best of luck!!

the other issue could be that the memory card just failed. i had one SD card do that exact same thing called the company they issued me a RMA and the damn thing is still sitting on my desk. I just bought 2 more.

You can also try to format the card in your PC if you have a card reader.

Most newly inserted micro sds have to be formatted to be used with the bb. I used mine with the crappy g1 and when I put it in my 8900 it said it had errors on it so I backed up everythin and formatted it and it turned it into a bb memory card and everything worked afterwards

If I remember correctly, someone speculated it to be around $300 for it.

Don't know if I believe it will be that high, but I could see at least $150.
