i used to be a diehard nokia fan back in the day. but now, i cant get over the ugliness of the newer nokia units.

im also not a fan of any S60 nokias, i would only favor a S40 device.

    and no BBM, no care.

Very good and objective review, although I would have given the E71 the
edge by 2 points. The E71x has pretty much replaced the BB as my work device.

My 2 points of contention would be (a) Keyboard - nod to E71 and (b) OS - nod
    to E71.

There are also a few device features not touched on in the review that puts
the E71 over the top for me.

I own both. 8900 hands down. I can't type for crap on the E-71. And for looks - 8900 wins imo. I am starting to hate symbian too.

Thing is Nokia was there for the start of smart phones and they did pretty well where as blackberry was more of just a business phone. Now that blackberry has established more of a smartphone/business phone I would have to say BB is ahead of nokia.

Although the E71x is a good phone the blackberry 8900 or any new BB has the edge over the nokia smartphones.

I have owned both, very good phones. Battery life was better on the E71, but I prefer my BB 8900 overall.

Aesthetically the e71 easily trumps the 8900 simply because of the steell look and the solid feeling in your hands. However the screen and keyboard as well as camera are much better on the 8900.
E71 would be a better bet for people without data plans since the nokia s60 os has a lot of third party programs that don't require 3g like the bb apps do( eg. Free garmin or tomtom gps on 460)

Although the reviewer tried to brand his article as geared towards a business comparison, but really didnt touch on anything really business related, it was more of just a comparison of basic features/apps.

How could anyone do a review based on the subject of "business" and not even mention BES? How about talking about security/encryption, remote abilities (wipe, backup etc), email/calendar/contact sync with Domino/Exchange/Groupwise?

What about FIPS validation (yes this is important in some places)?

Or rather than focus on talking about Facebook and Twitter clients (which I fail to see how this has anything to do with a business comparison), how about talk about BBM and the great features that is offers? We have already implemented BBM groups for different departments here at my company and has come in extremely handy, beyond just the straight messaging feature.

Sorry AG, I disagree with you Extremely poor review for an article titled "Nokia E71 vs Blackberry 8900: The Battle for the Business Market"
