It shows that I am using EDGE as my mobile network. Is my phone not compatible with the 3G network? If not, then how can I get 3G working with my phone?

    Thanks for the help,
    -Rich

So odd. Isn't the 8900 the newest curve model? Overall it's a new BB, you would think it had the hardware to use the 3G network. Hrmmm....

The 8900 was NEVER designed to be a 3G device. Even if you had an unlocked 3G
device it would still be EDGE as T-Mobile uses a totally different 3G frequency.

Short answer if you don't feel like seeing the implied.
    "No."

    Longer answer.

The 8900 was not made for 3G therefore is lacking the necesary radios for 3G. If you could somehow get one into it you would have to fix the OS to support it.

    So no.

You cannot use 3G on the 8900. It does not support 3G on any carrier's 3G frequency bands.

    Negative due to hardware.
If you want to get 3G on your phone, get a 9700

    +1.

To the OP, since you have T-Mobile you need to get a T-Mobile branded 9700 to get 3G on their network.

T-Mobile and AT&T use different frequency bands for their 3G, so you will not get 3G on T-Mobile if you have an AT&T branded device (and vice-versa).
