So im switching to AT&T, well because honestly VZW blows. I know a couple people that have the 8900 and some have the BOLD. Is the 3G the only real thing missing from the 8900? If so is it THAT big of a deal to not have? If this has been answered already, I apologize, I usually search, but I'm too lazy today Its my Friday

yeah there is a lot of bold vs 8900 threads.

Personally, I have the 8900 and I love it. But before it came out i wanted the bold. Now im thinking of getting the bold anyway. Alot have both. I still have my pearl from back in the day But I just really like the size and heft of the Bold. Im a girl and im only small, but I don't like tiny phones. To me, the 8900 is perfect. But I see nothing wrong with owning both.

If I had ATT I would go for the Bold because of the 3G, the devices are so similar.

Well I'm on t-mo with the 8900. But I think the bold is the best. I would get it if I didn't need UMA calling. My advice to u; wait til the onyx comes out before u switch to at&t

I have both and although I get tempted by the 8900 I always end up switching back to my Bold.

I think it depends on the area you live in and where you use your phone the most. I live in a small town far, far away from 3G service. Having a phone with 3G wouldn't really do me much better than a 2G phone. If you do live in an area with great 3G from AT&T, you might want to go for the Bold.

Now for the honest part, I am a first time BB user and I love, love, love, love my 8900. (Can you tell I love my phone and so I'd recommend the 8900 just cuz I love it. But of course, you have to get the phone that will suit you the best. But the 8900 is awesome.

Yawn.... I have not seen this question asked before so here goes .

If you want 3G get a Bold. If you can do without that and want the best BlackBerry ever, get the 8900.

If ur switching to at&t, wait til the onyx comes out so u can get it for less. Otherwise, do u like a bigger phone, bigger keyboard, 3g? Or do u want a small, compact device w a better camera?

    IMHO:
I have used Bold, and now using 8900. my opinion, if new to BB or use lower BB series before, it could be though choice. But since I used Bold before, for me overall still Bold. But 8900 size is way better. But if u set Bold into 2G only, the battery last slightly longer than 8900.

So if you need good camera, small size, go with 8900. If not, go with Bold.

I have just done this switch and agree. 3G on orange UK is so slow that I am struggling to see a difference in speed with 3g-2g. In every other way I am finding the 8900 better, mostly it falls just the right side of pocketable and feels much better in the hand than the Bold.

I just found another benefit too, when I moved from 83xx to Bold I was frustrated that on MMS the Bold would not send a picture taken at the larger setting whereas the old curve resized them and sent just fine, don't mms much but still I needed to leave it on a lower setting just in case I may want to send it. The 8900 sends the larger ones just fine.

This might be minor, but screen height is almost 10% bigger on the 8900 (Bold is 480x320, and 8900 is 480x360).

So, if you like having more real estate for whatever apps you use, consider that. Of course, if the apps you use most include the web browser, you're back at the 3G issue

The physical screen is not larger, in fact it is smaller than the Bold. The Resolution on the smaller 8900 screen is better.

just got the 8900 yesterday, i loved the bold and still have it but just trying out the 8900 out for a while. the size of this phone is cool compared to the bold, but its easier to type on the bold i think. im still on the fence with 3g, i honestly think the EDGE and 3g run comparable, maybe its just a coverage thing. anways good luck in your decision.
