Hi all. I own a BlackBerry 8520, and I started to experience this problem yesterday. Suddenly the trackpad stopped working. I did a few battery pulls, it always worked for a few minutes, then it stopped again (mostly when I got into another menu). After a few minutes, it started working again for different durations and times, so I guess it's either a contact or software problem. I reinstalled the OS though, but it's still the same. For example it worked for 10 minutes just now, and then it stopped again. Does anybody have any ideas, what happened to it?

How long is it stopping? Ten seconds? 30 seconds? Could be that your CB is just freezing. Mine does it all the time. Nothing you can do about it. Nothing works when my CB freezes. No trackpad, no menu. Nothing.

Everything else works, I can even click with my trackpad, only navigation does not work. Sometimes it stops after 10 seconds, sometimes after 10 minutes.

Which OS version you are using ?? if it is .592 then I also faced the same issue. It used to stop scrolling in any direction only I could click it. I used to insert the phone in BB pouch and get it out then trackpad used to behave normally. Putting it on the standby and back was the only solution in my case.

Upgrade to .681 or .1036 and see if it can resolve the issue. I used both and they are perfect. I don't have any more problems with trackpad.

mine was like that. started to play up then it went.I could track but not click. Got a new trackpad and its a 10mn easy job to replace. If you are getting one from ebay try and pick up the tiny (T6?) screwdriver as well. I dont think they are the easiest to pick up on their own.

Try upgrading / downgrading the OS version from the current one. It may help

Yeah after months of hopeless trying, I put 4.6.1.314 to it, and now it worked perfectly all day. Maybe the other guys who suffer of this should try it!

Holy cow, that's an old OS. Which one were you using before you loaded that one?

the latest released one. the phone was useless because the trackpad was unstable. i don't know how, but it works well with the "new" firmware, so i have to stay with this one.
