On the 8520, when I received a message (either SMS, MMS, or an instant message), I could slide my finger across the track pad and it would stop the phone from either vibrating or from hearing the ringtone.

However, with the 8530, this does not work. Even when I click a button it will continue to vibrate and/or ring. How do I change this? It's quite inconvenient.

    Hey Jennifer, welcome to Crackberry.

Have you tried to pull the battery and put it back in - allowing the phone to reboot? Sometimes the phone just freaks out and doesn't do what it should - and a battery pull will fix the problem.

I have been able to stop my ringer with any button on my phone - so it does work. I just wonder if your phone needs a reboot.

Let us know if that works, or doesn't.

Thank You Nathan. It seems to stop if I hit a button, after I popped the battery. But, no luck with just touching the track pad.

I do not think it works with the trackpad anymore. Just the buttons.
