I was uninstalling that Gmail plugin today after figuring out that it was annoying and while doing so, I came across something that is new! In "Options" > "Advanced Options" > there is now something called "Wireless Update" which from my understanding checks for updates that we are used to getting from the Desktop Manager. I know the Storm had this, but until recently, I didn't know I had it on my Curve 8330. Could this be a new feature in the recently updated OS from Verizon, .138?
I noticed it while uninstalling/installing bbm5 and 4.5 last night. I did upgrade to a hybrid with 160/131 files last week also. It has to be related to the new OS. I really hope this means we will get OS 5.0. I would keep my curve if that happens
I'm running 4.5.0.77 and its on mine to yet when I click on upgrade it says unable to send request for availible upgrades? Is .77 the latest "official" upgrade for verizon?
Well I've never seen it on my phone before and it's on there now. Tried to upgrade but it says no upgrade even though I'm running .77 with VZW and I know they just released the update.

I just spoke to Verizon about this new option and she did not seem to know what it was. She called a Verizon Tech on the other line to verify as she thought it was related to upgrading the actual phone not the software on the phone.
Here is what the Verizon Tech said about the Wireless Upgrade Feature:
This new feature is acutally just for letting you know when you are eligible to upgrade your phone to a newer one. The reason why you are receiving the "Unable to send request for available upgrades" is because you are not eligible. Again this is information that was given to me by the Verizon Techs.

And that that was just so wrong...
For the Storm, as well as BB's on other carriers, its for firmware updates. BUT the carrier's side has to be setup to deliver them for your device model.
VZW isn't the only one "behind", T-Mobile has an upgrade for the 8900 available for download on their web site, but "check for updates" on the device doesn't find anything yet either. AT&T Bold however does show the recent firmware update.
