I want to download a version with out media so i can just "click and drag" to put things on the phone....where is a good version to download?

I used Roxio (media manager) once. No I only use DM w/o media manager. IMHO it's a POS.

Do you have to have a memory card in to be able to NOT use media manager? I am new to BB and have yet to get myself a memory card, but I don't like using media manager so I want to get a DM without it!!

If you have media in the device memory, then I think you need media manager to access it. Not sure, since I got a SD card right away and dropped MM.
My advice is to get a the largest card supported by your OS (that you can afford). Keeping media in device memory will rapidly consume free memory.
