My brother asked me (I don't know why he keeps asking me, when I don't even have a BB and he could sign up for an account here) how to send an email to an entire filtered group on a Curve 8330.
He had set up the group in yahoo, and the group synced to his blackberry as planned (e.g., he can filter by that group and it'll pop up all the email address in that group). However, there doesn't appear to be a way to email everyone in a contact group with just one go. He has to select the names individually.
Is there a keyboard shortcut or something to do this?

Go to Address Book > select New Group > on the New Group line
assign the group a name > press menu > select Add Member > choose
the address you want and repeat this process untill you have everyone
you want > press menu > select save group
So, what about the groups that he currently has on his phone (that he transfered from his yahoo account online)? Will those just not work and he'll have to recreate the groups from scratch?
When he does this, will this allow him to email the entire group easily?
All of the email addresses are in; it's just that there's no way to select them all in one swing with the group. He has to filter to the group, and then individually select all the names.
Then if he follows the instructions I posted he can create separate
groups, give them unique names (Work, Family, Friends, etc...).
Then when he wants to send a email to all of them at once all he
has to do is select that group name when composing an email and
it will go to everyone in the group.
OK, no problem then. I just thought that he could use the existing groups but he can't just select that group name when composing an email, so it's probably the case that the curve doesn't recognize the groups.
So, it seems we had a misunderstanding on the difference between "categories" and "groups". His yahoo groups were becoming BlackBerry Categories, which you can filter by but can't email by.
So, he had to make groups on his BB as amazinglygraceless suggested. Things are working now.
