Hey all,

What is OS 5.0 and is it going to come to all blackberry devices or only specific ones? I have a Curve 8330 with Verizon and currently have OS 4.5.0.77. I also have Desktop Manager 5.0, but I don't understand the software versions (if I have 4.5 as an OS, Desktop Manager should be 4.5 or whatever?)

Its the newest base for an OS, and im pretty sure itll never come to your curve. Sorry itll be released for the newer phones only.

Hmm i have the beta for BBM 5 on my phone right now.. So it seems rim is including the curve in their 5.0 software.. Or at least i hope they do! As for the threading sms, i havent figured out how to get that to work yet

The OS is the physical software on the phone, desktop manager is just the software on the computer..

From what I understand OS 5.0 is a serious possibility for the 8330. I could be mistaken on that though.

BBM 5.0 has been leaked for all modern devices, AFAIK. That being said, several people have been having issues with it. I've had to tinker around some (updated OS to .160 from Telus) and it works flawlessly now.

BBM 5.0 has nothing to do w/ threaded SMS. That is apparently going to be a feature in OS 5.0, not BBM 5.0. BBM and SMS are two completely different applications.

As far as the original question of when it will show up, who knows? CX has said it is unlikely to be leaked, so it'll come when it does, I 'spose..

Actually threaded SMS is apart of BBM 5.0 but we have the beta version. The final version is supposedly going to have it. Also, since the beta version leaked with 8330 supported... Maybe RIM will eventually release the final version for their 8330 users aswell. There are even speculation that RIM will release Firmware OS v5.0 to its 8330 users in the future! Time will tell.

But to the OP if you want to install the beta version of BBM5.0, make sure you upgrade your firmware OS to v4.5.0.160. Which you can find here http://forums.crackberry.com/f52/new...nguage-236552/

You are able to upgrade to Beta Black Berry Messenger 5.0 only when you upgrade to v4.5.0.160.

I am happy with my berry now, so if there are no updates for a couple of years, *sigh*, I will live. I will probably get another berry when I am eligible for an upgrade in two years anyway.
