Okay I was sending some texts when I realized I only had 70characters to start with instead of the usual 160 characters... How can I fix that?

thats weird, try a battery pull. phone on yank the battery out and replace in 30 seconds.. and report back

was it a a fresh sms? no replies in it, no auto text.. you just hit compose sms and it said 70 on the top instead of 160 before you started typing?
what OS are you on? options>about third line down.

The link works for me... but that didn't work.

Another battery pull didn't work either.

I'm on OS 4.5.0.110

Tried a fresh message, no autotext, still 70 characters.

Also, people i am sending messages too are not recieving them.

go to options>advanced>host routing table>menu>register now.. try that.

for good measure, send your service books. log into your BIS page from your emailsetup icon and click on service books and then click on send service books. then try a battery pull after that.

Hmm should i just take my phone to the ATT store and see if they can fix this?

do you have other languages besides english on the phone? that might be the key to the whole thing... but i'd say yeah, either take it to the store, or call bb support at at&t.. let us know if you come up with anything.

Holy sh!t! That's it! it was the language thing. i had my phone locked and when i pulled it out of my pocket it had a language screen pop up, and i exited out of it. However it had selected English(United Kingdom) and I changed it to English(United States) and now it works fine! 160 characters per text. woohoo!

I'm glad you triggered my memory. it happened when i was at a party last night and i couldnt remember if something had happened.
