My wife spoke with Verizon today and was told to do a signal update on our phones by dialing*228 and then hitting 1. Anyone out there know what the update was about??? Thanks...
This updated the PRL (perfered roaming list) which is a "road map" for the phone about which network/s should be used in different areas. . . ie if not not VZW's network which carrier to use
*228 opt 1 - Does inital progamming of the phone and updates the PRL. Only needs to be done when the phone programed initally or in some other cases. ie price plan changes.
*228 opt -2 only updates the PRL and should be done about 60 days.
Yes they are in the process of linking the two networks between alltel and vzw...that will be happening in lots of places if not already then in the very near future.
Little tip, if you do *22899 you don't have to wait and choose any options, it will just program the phone automatically.
This is not advised by VZW. This does both a program and PRL update. No reason to both for one. FOr regluar phone this is not good idea either. if the person has a password on their phone (REGULAR) it will reset the password to default. The *22899 is designed for program and update VZW modems.
So stop being lazy and press the 2 for the right option
^^ and not just a BlackBerry thing. I've been with VZW for many years and have been doing it since the early cell phone days for all the cell phones we've had over the years.
