    well, i just boght my bb yesterday and tried installing the software for my desktop. the cd loads fine, but when i try to actually install the Desktop Software, nothing happens. i know i can install it from the bb website but i have no clue as to which version i should be looking for 4.0? 4.6? they dont even tell you which one is for which. im so confused...

    If you have the 8330 curve with VZW anything 4.3 or better should work.

    Are you getting any error messages? might be a bad CD.

    As lastraid said could just be a bad cd. Try downloading DM direct from the Blackberry website. 4.6 is the latest version

    well, i tried popping the cd out then in again and when i tried to install the Desktop Software, Windows Installer pops up and basically says this:

    ok, ill try 4.6.. should i dL the usb and modem drivers as well? or does the desktop software install those drivers already? thanks so much in advance for such the quick responses people. i already love you guys.

    This sounds like a windows installer problem not the DM. Although a bad CD could still the installer to do this. Try to D/L the newer desktop from blackberry and see if this helps. Also see if there are any available vista updates.

    DM will install all the drivers for the deivce you need, unless you go MAC

    ok, so now there are even more choices within the 4.6 on BB's site

    4.6 english with media manager
    or
    4.6 english without media manager

    which one should i dl?

    also, ive DLed all of any updates available for Vista 64-bit

    Depends weather you want the media manager or not. THis maybe the issue, do you see a version that will work with the 64 bit version? I know not alot out there for 64 bit.

    I just checked and it appears 4.3 and newer does support 64 bit version of vista

    thank you so much lastraid. i decided to just get the 4.6 w/ media manager. might come in handy? im at 93% complete in my dL. i just saw the media sync dL and it too looks like something i could use, since i use itunes pretty much exclusively for all of my needs. agh, i have lots of learning and catching up to do with my new bb. everything is like greek to me!

    NO DICE. did the same exact thing! i have no new updates for my vista 64bit. everything is up to date, matter of fact, i just got this notebook last week. i tried DLing from bb's website 4.6 and the same screen popped up! good thing i have another notebook with xp. i guess ill be doing all of my work over on that notebook. i just want to install everything and start playing around with my berry, dammit. thanks again for your time.

    This is what I would do. Try a reboot and try again. IF this does not work call VZW tech support and explain what is happening. They will most likely get you over RIM support. 1-800-922-0402. Let us know the outcome. make sure you tell them you have the 64 bit version
