I thought that the Pearl and the Curve for Verizon were not 3G but the ones in the store say 1XEV. Can someone clear this up for me?

1XEV (all caps) is the CDMA version of 3G.

Look on the back of your Curve, on the bottom it says Qualcomm 3G CDMA.

1XEV means you have EVDO service (Rev 0) and that is a 3G data only service.

Okay... so it is a rev 0 3G... which is slower than rev A EVDO but still 3G?

That's not necessarily true. In this case it is, but many phones use qualcomm's 3G chipset, but do not offer 3G data. The SCP-2700 comes to mind, as well as many others.

    Good enough for me.

Many people won't believe what you tell them, unless they can see it for themselves. I was just giving them something "concrete", so to speak, to look at right on the phone.
