When I use desktop manager to create a backup file for my blackberry does it back up contacts? I'd like to back those up so I don't lose them. If not is there anyway I can put my contacts somewhere that they won't get lost if I lose my phone or it tears up?

    yes, it does backup contacts.

you can also download google sync and backup your contacts onto your gmail account...if you have one!

my backups save to my desktop through DM....I do wonder if you can save a copy to your SD card and back up from it if you ever have to when away from your computer.

It saved mine to an .IPD file and I keep it in my documents on my computer. So what all does this IPD file include? contacts, apps, pictures?

I am hoping everything that would fully restore it to the state in which it was saved. I will find out tonight in my quest to get BBMaps working as it should.

I backed up, wiped the device...then restored. Everything restored except 3rd party apps. There are instructions somewhere here on how to do that as well. I only had 6 or so and found them all easily.
