Last night i had a low battery and forgot to charge my phone, this morning, knowing i was either still going to have a low battery or the phone would be off, i waited to charge it here at work, but when i put the usb cable in the LED light came on, it was red and not blinking, just a steady red light and the phone was not charging, it's been plugged in since 8 this morning. I tried other usb cables and they all come up with a steady red light, what's my concern and should i be concerned? I dont have access to my wall charger at the moment!!!!
As someone has for their Signature "Battery Pull, Chicken Soup for your BlackBerry".
Try that and like they say, it can't hurt.
i had tried that and it didn't work, tried it twice and the screen doesn't even light up. I even check the comp to see if i can see the phone connected and it doesn't show it at all.
EDITED: just tried ANOTHER battery pull and and noticed that when i took the battery out, the red light stayed on, didn't notice it the first time. In other words, i left the usb plugged in and took the battery out and the light stayed on!!! What does that say???!!!
Wow that really does sound messed up. Try what Slalom said and see it that works. If that doesn't help, then wait until you get home and see if your wall charger works.
Other than that, maybe someone else has some other ideas. I personally have never had mine do what you have said.
OK, problem solved, with help from the IT guy, had something to do with the port not recognizing the usb!!! Thanks for your help nonetheless, Crackberry Forums Rule!!!
You do have to install the USB drivers (or Desktop Manager). Otherwise the USB connection only provides a trickle of power to the device, barely charging it at all.
Somewhat related - I just noticed tonight when charging my mp3 player thru the usb port on my laptop when my laptop went to sleep (after screensaver shut off), the mp3 player stopped charging. I'm not sure if the same would happen with a BB, but thought I'd toss it out there.
