Hi guys, I have a few questions regarding the upgrade of my Curve 8310. I currently have version 4.5.0.81, and I understand there are higher versions.
First, I am using a Mac. I have the PocketMac for Blackberry software, so will this work? Second, on the blackberry website it says multilingual. Is this the one I want to download? I don't want to convert my Blackberry to Chinese!
I'm having trouble already. I switched to my Dell, and I can't find anywhere to update. I have the desktop software, and I clicked the Update section and nothing seemed to happen.
When I go to blackberry.com, I can't find it anywhere. I can click on the update provided in this forum stickied, but I don't want EastAsia
EastAsia is the one you want, just delete the vendor.xml file as per the instructions in post #1 of the sticky thread. You have to download the OS to your Dell and then install it to your PC before the update can happen. You can remove support for all other languages when you are doing the update.
Just read the instructions. The read them again. lol.
Don't rush, take your time, and some deep breaths... and backup your BB before doing the update. Even though it will do a backup/restore of your BB automatically during the upgrade process, a manual backup is the safe thing to do.
Whatever you do, don't unplug from the PC even though it seems like the process is stuck forever. Wait until you get a completed message, or an error message.
alright here's where I'm at.
It asked me if I wanted to launch the Desktop Manager, and I did but nothing prompted after that, so I clicked on Application Update or whatever.
It went through a series of processes and said it found 4.5.0 and it's taking a while. Hopefully this is it.
You will need to re-send your serivce books options>advanced options>host routing table>menu>reg now.
Once this is done go into the email settings or log into the BIS site for email and send the books from there. If you have a hard time with, call your carrier and heave them do it.
