I just connected my Curve 8310 to my computer to do a backup and received the message that an update is available. (the 4.5 OS) It apprears that DM is wanting to load this automaticall however it gives a message which states:

"Warning. After completing the loading operation you must activate your device wirelessly to continue to send and receive messages and use other Blackberry Services. If you do not want to continue with this loading opearation, press cancel".

Has anyone else experinced this?
What would I need to do to activate the BB after completing the operation?

Thats normal, basically after completion, resend your service books, and register the host rout8ing table again.

Resending service books
Either log onto your carriers BIS where you can edit your email info etc and resend from there, or find the manage internet email icon and follow that thru.

Register the Host Routing Table
Options, advanced, host routing table, menu key register

This often happens automatically after updates, but It doesn't hurt to do manually as well.

I just downloaded the newest desktop manager from BB.com 4.7 I think it is. The disk I got with my BB was a very old version. Upon updating to 4.7 I got the same message. I assume its safe to update as well? Is this what I am reading. I chose cancel to it since I had no idea what it was. I was terrified of killing my phone 2 days into ownership

Its a personal phone not for work.

Sure, buuuuuuuut, I wouldnt use 4.7 alot of users report issues, if you can, and want too, Id uninstall it, and get either 4.5 or 4.6

I will do that. I had issues getting the thing installed (4.7) it was doing something odd to my machine. I will get 4.5

And if youwant, you can get it without media manager, thats sooo slow, a PITA, you can still put ringtones and whatnot on the card without out, enable mass storage mode on your BB, and use the E:/ on the PC to access those folders, waaayyyyyy easy, and very much faster..

Kinda like a flash drive

That was a thing I had written down to look up but you have sorted that for me, thanks. I will use the E: method for my music and such and maybe when I get the nerve do the update via the manager........ Wish me luck and thanks again
