Hello - I have an old BB 8330 on verizon, running 4.3 OS that I am giving to my daughter. Is there any point in me updating phone? It is so old I thought there might not be any benefit in doing so.
I would update it to a flavor of OS 4.5.x. That should leave sufficient memory for a few apps and still have enough left over. I hear OS5 isn't the best thing ever in terms of how little memory it leaves.

Be warned that the newer curves lack a flash, so your wont be able to take pictures in the dark and you will lose your flash light.
I read that I need to update desktop manager but am not sure if I need the latest version DM6, since I can only update up to 4.5 ?

No, you do not need DM6 if you're only updating to 4.5, you would only need DM 4.5. I would still download DM6, it's pretty nice compared the older DM builds.
If it were mine I would download Os 5.0.0.438 into the pc. Use shrink-os to make it smaller, load it then use bbsak to delete cod files to make it even smaller yet. This would leave you with around 45mb file free. This is essentially what I did with mine. Trouble free and dependable. Several apps later I still have 26mb file free. And no spinning hour glass.

I have been unsuccessful upgrading to 4.5 on Desktop Manager. Also, the feature on phone to upgrade OS is not available. This is my old BB that I gave my wife. Needs upgrade to do other things not available with 4.3. Thanks for your help
