    I just bought a new Blackberry 8320.

According to my carrier (Movistar) everything is activated on their end, they also say my PIN and EMEI are valid

I also upgraded my BB to the latest software but still I can not connect to BIS......always a small edge

    Any advice?

Yes, I did that and according to my carrier its all fine

But I never got an email or any information as to hos to log into the BIS site

The only thing I can think of that might be causing the small edge is that the signal strenght is around -73

    - Pin and EMEI are valid
    - Carrier says I have a BB dataplan
    - BB has the latest software upgrades

well,I finally made it into the BIS site....so thats another problem solved

I'm not sure at to how to proceed next. I have sent the service books...but I'm not sure where they are sent to....either the device or the email address I provided/made

In the service status under Blackberry Internet Service says Connection not connected but under Mobile Network Options it does state Data Services ON

your service books can be found by going to options advanced options service book. When you register device it automaticlly sends the service books to your handheld . . And when you go to manage connections does it say BIS not connected and or BES not connected ?

The screen is named Services Status

    Voice Services
    Status available
    Connection:Mobile Network
    Blackberry Internet Service
    Connection: Not Connected
    Blackberry Enterprise Server
    Connection: Not Connected

    Mobile Network
    edge
    Mobile Network Provider
    movistar

    Wifi Network
    Active Profile: 3Com

    - I do not have BES

    - When I logged into my account on the BIS server I did sent the service books, but I never got any notification on my handheld that I recieved them

looks like its not registering and you need to take it to your carrier and tell them fix it or replace it.... It looks like they don't have your data plan active

you could try wiping the handheld and reinstalling the OS but since you just got the phone I would take it back and make them give you one that works . When you get it run diagnostics and make sure everything works b 4 leaving .
