hey guys ive tried doing the trackball color tape trick to change the cover over the led light however it looks like mine lights up from the sides does anyone have any advice on this without changing the trackball?

You can do it, i did it to mine. take the ball out, then take your finger and cover up the Indicator LED on the top right of your phone. this will light up the keypad and trackball. then you can see where the LED is. under the trackball there is a metal circle. to the bottom right is a little square, thats the LED. tape over it and youre golden. Mine is green now.

not sure where the led's are lol and if i do that i cant change it back to white if i need to do a warrenty

Yeah you can change it back.. just do the tape trick. it just takes a while to finesse it in place. if you use too much your trackball wont be sensitive. mines been like three different colors this week. lol

It sounds like you're looking at the ball itself when its out. You need to look inside the hole on the phone where the ball goes.

i looked in the hole i can see the button where the ball pushes on but im not seeing the led i guess except for the ones that light up on the sides

its the little rectangle in the bottom right corner like i said, cover the led with your finger and itll light up and you can see it.

the light looks like a little contact point not a led.

I have a Sprint 8330m and the LED for the trackball is NOT there...on mine, if you look into the hole after taking the trackball out, the light is to the left and more inside the case...I was going to color mine with a Sharpie but the tip of the Sharpie wasn't small enough to get back in there.

You're not sol a colored trackball is like $7 shipped or for that matter so is a white one that you can color yourself.

Get a small piece of tape and color it then carefully place it over the side wall where your led is..... Then put your trackball back in and there you go colored trackball! Check my 8330 on youtube;( berrieboss) go there you'll see mine.... Excuse me while I sip my tea........
