Im just curious to see what features people like most on their blackberry. Like things and shortcuts everyone might not know about. This would be cool and possibly show people things they didnt even know exsisted on their curve or blackberry.
Here are mine:
1. Obvious one here is the Push Email
2. Desktop View for the web browser. (Shows a little mouse arrow which is cool)
3. The way that you can turn the phone off and the alarm will still be on.
4. The phone knows when its in the holster and you can customize the alerts for when its in or out of the holster.
5. And last but not least a CAMERA lol
I'm a PalmOS user since my first USRobotics/3COM 5000 with PalmOS 1.0.
Other than having difficulty finding a replacement for some of my third party apps I had loaded on my previous Treo here's what I think BlackBerry has done right:
1. AutoOff/AutoLock in Holster/Case
2. Autodimming Screen
3. Trackball (although I miss touch screen, sometimes)
4. E-mail E-mail E-mail... never easier, never simpler
5. Media Player
OK, I can't stop
6. Agree with above, SMS, missed calls and e-Mail all in one screen
7. MobiPocket Reader (6 beta) I always read books on my PDA and this converts PDF, HTML documents very nicely!
8. Profiles, never seen so many options for setting up notifications! Wow, fantastic!
9. Camera, great resolution decent looking photos
...
Yes, I am now a convert... My Treo is gone...
But am still looking for some replacements for some PalmOS apps I used to use, please msg me if you have any ideas. These are the PalmOS apps I miss:
Cesium - A stopwatch, world time, countdown timer, multi-alarm application.
PhonTuner - a musical instrument tuner (also looking for a metronome)
TomTom - I have expensive data charges and want to pre-load the maps onto my MicroSD card.
HandyShopper - a great shopping list generator, keeps track of everything that I normally buy and allows me to create new lists from existing and new items very quickly.
TideTool - a tide calculator that provides tide tables and currents at locations all around the world.
1. Push mail....So convenient
2. Trackball....It's intuitive and knows exactly where I want to go
3. Qwerty keyboard....Typing long emails is a breeze
4. Media player....fantastic audio and video outputs
5. And the fact that there are so many features that everyday I am discovering something new
Push email
Supports 4 GB SDHC card (who needs an ipod, I have movies and music on mine)
BB Messenger
Brick Breaker (I know it is a classic)
The fact that it is smarter than me (not that I am not smart but it makes you look smarter and I learn something new everday)
1. Screen Clarity
2. Application Switcher (my left convenience key--heck, being able to set the convenience key is a step up!)
3. Wi-Fi
4. Easy push e-mail
5. Group chats in BB Messenger (Thanks all my cb friends!!)
Switch from a Verizon 8830 to a T-Mobile 8320 this week:
1. 2.0 camera
2. WiFi - automatically recognizing and switching to hotspots
3. Desktop manager
4. Formfactor - keyboard is so much better than the 8800's
5. Convenience keys.. two of them!
I work cell phone tech support...and it's why I have a Crackberry and NOT a Treo or Windows Mobile.
1) Stable operating system. I've had four Blackberry devices, and nothing's gone wrong on them that a hard reset can't cure.
2) The trackball. GREAT idea!
3) Email. Can't stress this enough. My family does not call me, they email or IM me.
4) The web browser. I've surfed over to Project Gutenberg, and have been re-reading the Oz books on the Blackberry. I also use it to update my blog and read the news.
5) The QUERTY keyboard. I HATE text messaging any other way!
* Web Browser (BB & OperaMini(
* Push Email
* Brickbreaker (Great way to pass time)
* Very customizable (themes, ringtones, etc...)
* Keypad (for big fingers, I can type well/fast)
