This thread is for unlocked 8300's only. The 8320 is a different device, and not what this thread is about. There is a thread about the new OS for the 8320 already.

I have T-Mobile, currently using a 8700g. I just bought an AT&T 8300 Curve and as soon as it arrives, I'm going to unlock it for use with T-Mobile. I went to the T-Mobile website and after logging in, check to see if I could "change phone" to 8300, but it was not an option (8800, 8320...several other older models). Where would I find the T-Mobile download/software for the handheld...ref. above quote, or do you just mean that T-Mobile will push the right service books now?

I have downloaded the most current handheld software from AT&T (v 4.2.2.301) and planned on installing that, as soon as the 8300 arrives.

Bottom line: Can I just install the newest software, register the 8300 with the T-Mobile network, push my service books and be good to go?

No. The version of the software distributed under T-Mobile's name is specifically for the 8320 - NOT the 8300.

You can only install the OS versions designated for the 8300 on that device, and they will NOT come from T-Mobile.

What you'll want to do is locate the latest version of the 8300 OS (I believe a couple of versions with the latest updates are available, including one from Singapore Telecom), install THAT, then go to T-Mobile and re-send your service books.

Can I use this software on my T-mobile 8320 Curve? My version is the latest version that they have on the Tmo site. V4.2.2.180 (platform 2.5.0.36) can I upload the newest version without destroying my curve? Thanks
