my bb has 10883670 bytes free when i look at my status. i think that its because im saving all my pictures in the wrong fille (saving it on my bb rather than my media card) i got a 512 mb card.

i have these 3rd party programs installed in my bb...
    -Opera mini
    -google maps
    -jive talk

i woke up this morning and the little sundial keeps spinning and my bb was running slow.

how much free bytes should i have inorder to make my bb run smooth?

i would suggest that anything under 16 would be a problem, save all you can to your memory card. You might want to think about upgrading to a larger card.

The object might be an hourglass, and it is not what is making your device lag, but rather an indicator that your device IS lagging.

    Remove the battery and reboot.

I say 15+mb free is good. 10 is low.
    Your mileage may vary.

    See post #2 above.

Yes 10 is low ringtone pics and themes are usually the biggest eater of memory. Try putting all pics and ringtones on the memory card, i only keep one or two themes on my device. You can buy a 8 gig card for aroound 35 bucks.

You need atleast 12mb+ to keep your blackberry up and running smoothly. Try this http://forums.crackberry.com/f3/how-...-memory-34633/

There is no set number, I don't know where you get 10 from, there is no law or rule, only a suggestion.

I have seen Pearls and Curves both lose all their call logs and SMS texts, and have 21MB free at the time.

It is a rule of thumb... YMMV.
