One of my users attempted to subscribe to news alerts from sites like the Washington Post and CNN which require a SMS message to 26688 with 'Alerts' (CNN example) in the subject and the message he gets back is 'Access Denied'.

The user can send regular SMS messages without any issue and can web browse successfully.

I also tried it from another Curve on our account and got the same 'Access Denied' reply. I tried it from my G1 on the same account and it was successful, so there is no restriction set by our carrier and I am assuming the issue is model- or BlackBerry-based.

I spent two hours on the phone with our carrier and RIM and they cannot figure out what the problem is.

The user particularly wants to receive alert messages and is not happy for me to load the CNN shortcut on his homescreen.

Could it be a setting on the device that is preventing this from happening? Any suggestions please.
