I have had this problem with more than one Curve, I have had it replaced twice and the problem keeps coming back, people at Verizon have never even heard of the problem before.

    The Issue :

When I receive a phone call I press the green answer key, the phone goes to speakerphone for 1 to 2 seconds and then goes back to the earpeice. So if there is a loud background noise like a baby crying or loud music it is broadcasted on speakerphone for a second or two.

I was able to replicate the problem for the VZW rep and they replace the phone right away.

I set up the new phone and it is doing the same thing.

2 phone smae problem... any one else having this issue and are they any fixes

    Thanks

Wow....can't say I heard of that one! Must be annoying at the start of each call. Gotta be a very rare coincidence to happen twice. I wish I had an answer for you.......good luck.

You just need to update to the latest OS and it should be resolved. On your device hit options>about and it will tell you what OS you currently run. Check the stickies on this forum at the top to upgrade accordingly.

Yes, it's a well known problem with Vzw's 4.5.0.77 OS. Upgrade to 4.5.0.131 and it will be a thing of the past.

mradicchi... As Tremortality said you need to upgrade your OS. The newer OS version 4.5 took care of the speaker blast problem plus it also gave a few more goodies.

Pay attention to the instructions on page 1, especially about deleting the vendor.xml file before upgrading the OS.

May be that's the failure of production. You have to complain to Quality of your BB Officially. I think this is serious issue.

That software will work on any carrier's compatible device. Just follow the instructions.

4.5.0.77 is the latest Vzw OS for the 8330, but the Sprint OS .131 is the one you want to solve the speakerblast prob you're having.

Now that you say it, that does happen to me on my calls also. I want to download the upgrade, but I have a question, if I do it will it void Verizon's warranty?

  14. xliderider's Avatar
Bign, theoretically, yes. But if you should ever need to return the phone you can downgrade to the .77 OS before taking it in.

Download the .77 OS first, then save the setup launcher file somewhere on your PC.
    Don't install this OS.

Then download the .131 OS and install it to your PC.

I believe Desktop Manager 4.7 will automatically look for the latest software that is approved for your phone depending on the carrier. So if you do have Verizon it will locate the 4.5.0.77 software if you check for updates even if you are running the 4.5.0.131

Tjtoad, that's one of the reasons why I don't recommend using DM 4.7 for the Curve.
