I am thinking about getting a Curve 8330 from Sprint. I work in the UK a fair amount and am wondering whether I would get data access (email et al) with this phone. Less concerned about the voice side - can always carry a separate prepay phone (and at $1.50 a minute makes financial sense).

Not unless the UK has a CDMA network... which it doesn't to my knowledge. An 8830 might be a better choice, but check for coverage and rates from the carrier first.

Thanks - not sure I want to go that chunky - perhaps I have to wait for the 9000...

Just go GSM BB, which means not going with Verizon.

Another random thought: if I go with a Curve with Wifi, does that means I can access data and/or phone from any hotspot in the UK? If I am in the office or hotel that might be sufficient? Do I even need the international data plan?
