Did you post in the correct forum section? If you have a 83XX curve it sounds as if you have an older operating system installed. The newer operating system will fix the "speaker blast" issue.

Add speakerblast to the list of bugs/reasons to use .131 or the .160/.131 hybrid:

I have v4.5.0.77 (Platform 3.2.0.51) Verizon. Will I be screwed if I change it?

No you will be just fine. You need to read everything carefully before you attempt to upgrade the OS, a lot of ppl end up bricking their phones because they didn't do so. Use this link to help and there are stickies at the top of the 83xx page with the latest OS versions...

Unfortunately, the latest OS version for the 8330 stickied at the top of this forum (4.5.0.160) doesn't work well on Verizon's network, unless you use the hybrid version referenced in the thread linked in post #3 above.

xl, I have been using this (.160) for a while with no observed issues so far.

What exactly do you refer to when you say "doesn't work well on Verizon's network". Anything I should be looking out for?

    Thanks!

A chirp, squeal, sound when talking on the phone. I haven't experienced it myself, but quite a few Verizonites have experienced it.

The network indicator cycling between 1XEV, 1X, 1xev, 1x in succession, even when you are in a strong signal area. A battery pull will reset this for a while, but it eventually comes back.

And Profiles crashes, where your BB will lose it's assigned ringtones and notifiers set up for individuals in your contact list.
