I was told by someone that whatever OS you have on your berry (I have 4.5.0.77) that is the DM version you should have (so I should have v4.5). I just downloaded 4.5 and uninstalled 5.0. Just an FYI for Curve users, since we will not be getting a new OS anytime soon...
Your information is not correct. I am using DM 4.6 with OS 4.5. Previously I was using DM 4.6 with OS 4.2. There is no correlation between the two numbers, and no requirement that they match. You can run DM 4.5, DM 4.6 or DM 4.7 with your OS 4.5.0.77

So I can just download DM 535.0 again then? I thought that there was a correlation between the OS version and the DM version...thanks!
I'm still using DM 4.6. Given the problems with DM 4.7, I'm not going to be one of the first to use DM 5.0. If you want to try its capabilities, go ahead. You can always uninstall it and load DM 4.6 or DM 4.7.

I really don't use the Desktop Software all too often anyway, I just have it to update my software, etc. I have 5.0 installed so I will keep it I guess... Thanks for your help, though!!!
The only thing you must do is have a Desktop Manager version that is at least as high as your OS Version. For example if you are running OS 4.6 and you have Dekstop Manager 4.5 installed, it will ignore any 4.6 OS files so you cannot update, upgrade, etc. If you are running a Curve with OS 4.5 then you can stick with 4.5 or load any newer version of Desktop Manager. Just for version 4.7 and above of Desktop Manager they have an auto-check feature that checks the internet for updates. If you download a new OS you need to make sure that this auto-check feature is turned off and you are disconnected from the internet or the new OS will prob be ignored.
Thank you all for your help! The reason I like the newer versions of the Desktop Manager is because of the auto-check software --- I only download official updates from the carrier and/or RIM. That's why I like DM v4.7+, but I figured that I might as well just get the newest version of the DM when it came out.
