sd question, when i put the sd card in, the little metal thing that keeps it in does want to lock closed, is it supposed to be like that i have the 8310 but the card reads and stuff

I'm confused with your wording. You stated "the little metal thing that keeps it in does want to lock closed" That does not make any sense.

Lay the Card in the metal tray, and gently flip both the card and the metal tray over to the lock position.
Don't feel bad, it took me a while to figure out how to get the card in position.
