I've got the 8330, and a week ago, it encountered an unfortunate incident with a glass of water while I was asleep. It appears only the keyboard got wet and was damaged though, as the phone can still receive calls, and when scrolling around with the trackball, I can see how many messages I have in my email inboxes, my BBM, etc. Downside is that I cannot click on anything.
Luckily I had insurance and my new 8330 will arrive tomorrow. I did take it to a Verizon store and tried to see if they could salvage my address book. I never backed it up... They told me that because they couldn't use the keyboard to run the program to export my address book, I was out of luck. Verizon (in their infinite wisdom) does not utilize SIM cards.
Here's my question though: If I plug my BB into a computer, would I be able to use the software to download the address book? Has anyone ever tried this before? Do you have to respond to any commands on the phone?
Thanks in advance for any help. I'm pretty desperate here. I'll never be lazy about backing up my address book ever again.
