Also, what is the best service that backs up your sms messages for you? The reason I need this is my psycho ex will only communicate about our daughter via text and I need to save them for court reasons..

My ex is off her rocker, so to speak and she will only communicate via text. Supposed to be via email, but she refuses cuz she knows that can be printed and documented. That being said, is there a way to print these texts off that I do have backed up?

To add to the above posts you can go into the advanced section when you restore and only restore to sms messages. That way you don't over write everything else in the phone.
As for printing the sms messages you can open the backed file in a text editor and see the messages in there. It won't look pretty sure its a way to view it on the computer. Just search the file for her phone number to find the texts involving her.
