I bricked my 3 month old 8320 when i fell it water with it. I was so pleased with my BB before it went swimming that I bought a new replacement.

However, the backups that I did with the old one will not restore into my replacement. Is there a way to do this?

Try doing an Advanced Restore. Open Desktop Manager, click on Backup/Restore, click on Advanced. Click on File in the upper left hand corner and browse to your last backup file. The left window will populate with databases that can be restored to your new BB.

Click on the important databases like Address Book, etc. (hold the Ctl key down to select multiple databases. Then click on the button in the middle of the two windows with the >> on it to transfer the databases to your replacement BB.

Edit: You can use either Backup.ipd or LoaderBackup.ipd files you have to do your Restore operations.
